Earlier this year our innovative HR Manager, Charlotte Manning, launched the ESco “Volunteering Scheme”, which has been in the pipeline for several months.

The scheme allows employees to take one day per year to volunteer during the working week without this being deducted from their annual leave.  As well as the option to take part in volunteering days organised by ESco, employees can also request a day to volunteer at a registered charity that they may already be supporting.

The first charity we chose to support was Hope House Essex, an organisation which provides temporary accommodation for homeless adults. Established in 2012, this small team respond to the level of homelessness in Braintree and are reliant on donations from the local community, businesses and grants.

On Tuesday 26th of April and Thursday 28th of April, a small team of ESco volunteers got stuck in with redecorating the rooms and building flat-packed furniture in preparation for future residents. Well done to Franco, Charlotte, Megan, Clare and Alice for volunteering your time to help with such a fantastic cause.

The staff and trustees at Hope House would like to give a massive thank you to the ESco team! […] Thank you to all of them for volunteering their time and effort to help us out by decorating some rooms and building some furniture! We're ever so grateful for their contribution and it will be treasured going forward.

We would also like to offer our huge congratulations to HR Manager, Charlotte Manning, for the success of this volunteering scheme. Her hard work and efforts to put this plan into action has meant that ESco can now offer a fantastic opportunity for employees to continue to help with making a positive impact on the local community.

If you would like to support Hope House Essex and help to break the cycle of homelessness, you can find out how to here.

We know not everyone has the time to do quite so much as this, but please know that every contribution made to us is truly helpful and never forgotten — whether it be your time, donations (both monetary or otherwise), and even just sharing our posts to help us reach more people is invaluable.
