PPA Festival 2018
On Thursday 10th May, a team of ESco’s finest, hot footed it from our rural HQ to London’s beautiful Tobacco Dock, for this year’s PPA Festival.
With a 4.30am start, our bright and eager bunnies, were buzzing around Tobacco Dock, carrying furniture, setting up rolling presentations, monitors, laptops, iPads, and cupcakes, all by 8am, ensuring our stand was up and ready to go. Our final priority before the hoards descended was to get our ESco coffee machine all fired up, with one quick taste test, we were wired and ready for action.
The day started with a sprightly welcome session from Barry McIlheney, CEO, PPA and Marcus Rich, Chairman, PPA/CEO, Time Inc. UK which set the tone for a great day.
Our team were there to meet up with some of our clients, catch up with our trusted suppliers and build some new partnerships with other publishers looking to use one of our many services. It was also a great time to learn from some of the many experts in the publishing world sharing their expertise and stories.
In true Festival style, there were four seminar stages…..Trust, Innovate, Passion and Together…..all featuring some brilliantly well-known and respected names within the publishing industry. Just some of the great influential speakers that we were lucky to hear from were: Kevin Costello, Haymarket Media Group; Tom Bureau, Immediate Media Co; Jonathon Whiteley, Incisive Media; Steve Newbold, Centaur Media; Carla Buzasi, the new MD at WGSN; Chloe Thompson, New Scientist (and PPA Marketeer Of The Year); Claire Sanderson, Women's Health; Kevin Petley, HELLO!; Ian McAuliffe, Think; Karen Pepper, Amazon Pay UK; Multi-award-winning Creative Director Andy Cowles and MANY more.
A really interesting and informative day and a real success for the PPA with even more delegates attending than in previous years.
You won’t be surprised to learn that we were dishing out ESco cupcakes and hot filter coffee in our reusable ESco travel mugs, which were much appreciated by the many. As those in the industry will know, when ESco are at an event, our stand is always worth a visit…not just for pearls of wisdom, but for coffee and cake! Our only disappointment was that we weren’t able to drag our sofa along for this one. Next time.
We’re looking forward to catching up with friends, partners and prospective partners at the PPA Awards in June.
