Since March 2020, there has been a hole in our hearts where in-person publishing events used to be.

We have spent the last eighteen months waiting for the opportunity to be able to come together again as a community to celebrate a multitude of successes… And on Friday 26th November 2021, it gave us the greatest pleasure to return to the PPA Independent Publisher Conference and Awards and do just that.

In attendance for ESco was Susan, Louise, Alistair, Greg, Charlotte and Connor who all got dressed to the nines (with the sudden realisation that an in-person event means that you can’t pair your nice top with pyjama bottoms like you could when attending virtually).

The day followed the familiar model of a half-day conference in the morning and the awards ceremony in the afternoon. In light of a new era of in-person events, there was also complimentary digital conference content, which took place in the lead up to the face-to-face event.

From all of us here at ESco, we would like to congratulate all winners of the PPA Independent Publisher Awards 2021, with extra special mentions to:

  • The Bookseller, winning Content Piece of the Year with “The Black Issue”
  • Women’s Running, Anthem Publishing Ltd, winning the Diversity & Inclusion Award
  • Women’s Running, Anthem Publishing Ltd, winning Podcast of the Year
  • Motor Sport Magazine, winning Subscriptions Strategy of the Year (a category which was proudly sponsored by ESco)

The full list of winners can be found of the PPA Independent Publisher Awards 2021 website.

We would like to offer our congratulations to all winners and to those highly commended for all their efforts in the industry this year. It gave us the greatest pleasure to mark the return of in-person publishing events at these awards with you, in celebration of such resilience and innovation alongside clients, partners and friends.

Thank you to the PPA Awards for welcoming us back with such welcome arms and we look forward to bringing in the New Year with a determination to aim higher than ever before.
