Friday 21st September 2018 saw our second ESco Connect event focused on Subscriptions Marketing where over 50 friends of ESco heard an inspiring talk from industry professional, Steve Price.
Steve talked to us about subscriptions marketing, the basics, top tips and thinking outside the box. We learned some incredible facts about “The Subscription Economy”, a phrase coined by Tien Tzuo, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Zuora.
We looked at the amount of subscriptions available in today’s marketplace, not just magazines, many more than most of us had possibly comprehended and how today’s consumer is drawn to a flexible subscriptions model rather than being tied down by the ownership of physical goods.
And we talked about what to do with this information, best marketing practices, knowing your customer, testing marketing techniques over and over and finding new and creative ways to analyse the data that you already own.
The afternoon brought a whistle-stop tour of the developments that have been taking place at ESco HQ since our last event in March with the roll out of our ESco Client Reporting Portal, and the promise of new and exciting additions to come.
After much positive feedback from our first event, we knew we had to hold another round table session in the afternoon. This time, the sessions were hosted by three independent friends of ESco: Steve Price, Direct Marketing Consultant at the Recurring Revenue Company; Verity Travers, Head of Marketing and Production at Anthem Publishing; James Greenwood, a freelance Marketing & Creative Services professional.
Each table was facilitated by two ESco moderators who specialised in the topics discussed. The feedback we’ve had from these tables has been fantastic, with lots of tips and ideas being shared between publishers that wouldn’t ordinarily have the opportunity to sit down together to brainstorm.
Overall a Friday very well spent, with the day being described as “comprehensive”, “insightful”, “informative”, “excellent”, “future”, “brill”, “creative”, “promising”, “stimulating”, “interactive”, the list goes on.
Always great to enjoy a few drinks at the end of the day to unwind with our highly valued partners.
We’re already planning our next one, set for early 2019, watch this space…!
